Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues is a Partner at Abreu since 2022, he coordinates the Projects & Structured Finance sector, focusing on national and international projects in the energy and natural resources, transport and infrastructure sectors.

Bruno’s practice focuses on energy and traditional infrastructure, especially on structured finance, project development and private equity operations and venture capital.

Prior to joining ABREU Bruno was a partner of DLA Piper where he headed for 12 years the Energy and Natural Resources practice and was one of the heads of Projects & Finance practice and was a member of the team of external counsel acting for the Government of East Timor in the negotiation of the Maritime Boundary Treaty with Australia.

For over 20 years Bruno has regularly advised financial institutions (including multilaterals), States and public sector, Funds, oil companies, utilities and IPPs in high profile projects in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, East-Timor, Equatorial Guinea and Cape Verde, and has also led M&A transactions in the financial, industrial and IT sectors, among others.

Besides the transactional mandates, Bruno also regularly advises on regulatory matters and dispute resolution in regulated sectors.

Bruno is a regular lecturer in several postgraduate and masters’ classes on project finance, corporate finance and energy law.

Advising bank syndicates (as lenders), security agents, project companies and sponsors in structured finance financing agreements in Portugal, Spain, Cape Verde, France, Romania, Brazil, Angola and Mozambique

Advising multilateral financial institutions in infrastructure finance deals

Advising project companies in project development of more than 3GW renewable energy projects

Advising traditional developers, IPPs, infrastructure funds and utilities on M&A deals in the energy sector

Advising on private equity deals in the infrastructure sector

Advising Oil & Gas companies and respective service providers

Advising asset managers on regulatory issues and the incorporation and registration of funds

Advising multilateral financial institutions and governments on legislative reform projects

Advising on privatizations and banking resolutions in the financial sector (banking and insurance)
