Abreu Advogados creates support team for companies affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict

The firm will also provide over 1,000 hours of pro bono legal support to initiatives dedicated to supporting Ukrainian citizens affected by the conflict.

Abreu Advogados has created a team specialised in supporting companies and organisations whose business has been directly or indirectly affected by the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Headed by partner Manuel Andrade Neves, this multidisciplinary team includes experts from various practice areas who will clarify doubts and find solutions that can mitigate the economic impact of this conflict on Portuguese businesses.

In this context, Abreu Advogados also inaugurates a new area of its website – International Sanctions | Legal Monitor – exclusively dedicated to international sanctions, which provides an update on the main sanctions imposed in the scope of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and a sectorial analysis of the consequences and impacts that these measures may have for national companies.

“At a time of international conflict like the one we are experiencing in Europe, it is important that each organisation can do its part to support all those who have been affected and, together, contribute to reducing the harmful consequences of this conflict. For our part, we will do everything in our power and we want to be a source of information for our clients and partners and a point of support for all citizens involved in this international crisis” explains Manuel Andrade Neves, partner at Abreu Advogados.

In order to directly help all those affected by this conflict, the Firm headed by Inês Sequeira Mendes decided to provide an initial package of over 1000 hours of pro bono legal support dedicated to several social initiatives created with a view to supporting Ukrainian citizens impacted by the current situation and promoted, namely, by the digital platform “We Help Ukraine”. the task force created by the Portuguese Bar Association or the Association of Law Firms in Portugal (ASAP).

Over the coming weeks, Abreu Advogados will launch a set of newsletters, events and practical guides, with free access to the entire population, in order to ensure access to updated and credible information on this issue.
