Manuel Durães Rocha highlights that the agricultural and environmental sectors are complementary and should evolve together
Manuel Durães Rocha, partner at Abreu Advogados, highlighted this Tuesday that there are “specific legal regulations for the agricultural industry and specific legal regulations for the environmental sector” at the EU level. While acknowledging that there is a certain tension between the two sectors—which should be avoided—he stressed that they must find common ground and evolve together, noting that “the agricultural entrepreneur is the best caretaker of the land” and needs to gain competitiveness and resilience in the current complex global economic context.
The coordinator of the agrofood sector was speaking on the panel “Tools for Growth”, part of another edition of the “Rota do Crescimento” held in Santarém. This initiative by Jornal Económico brings together entrepreneurs, managers, and experts to discuss the main challenges and opportunities for business growth in Portugal.
The event also featured the participation of Luís Marques Mendes, of counsel, who stated that Portugal “should have the ambition to grow more, but that we are on the right path,” highlighting the work of entrepreneurs, whose dedication and merit have contributed to the country’s growth.
