João Tiago Santos has been a Senior Associate Lawyer at Abreu Advogados since 2025, working primarily in civil litigation, credit recovery, insolvency, and company recovery.

He is particularly involved in the recovery of loans, including in executive and insolvency and revitalisation proceedings related to companies and private clients. He has led several extrajudicial negotiations, restructuring operations, and assignment of credits and represents clients before the Courts in lawsuits, having deep experience in pre-litigation and litigation cases.

He also has led a number of extrajudicial negotiations, restructuring operations, and assignment of credits and represents clients in court in the context of litigations filed before Portuguese courts.

He assists clients in different levels of appeals in declarative and executive actions, injunction proceedings, probate proceedings, protective orders, insolvency proceedings, and specific revitalization procedures.

João Tiago is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association.

Experience

Advising the banking and financial sector in the various procedural stages, with legal action and monitoring of the entire procedural process;

Advising a number of portuguese banks under the scope of litigations arising from several security backed and non-security-backed financial products (movable and immovable property, leasing & factoring, securities, diverse contracts);

Participation in various negotiations in company recovery processes.
