Sanctions Canada to Russia

Last updated: 29 March 2022

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Canada has been critical of the Russian invasion and one of the countries at the forefront of implementing sanctions in the wake of the conflict.

Canada has been imposing restrictive measures on Russia since 2014, through the entry into force of the “Special Economic Measures (Russia) Regulations”, which have now been escalated following the invasion of Ukraine and have a significant potential impact in Canadian companies with business or exports to Russia.

Canada does not rule out, however, the entry into force of new restrictions if the Russian authorities do not back down.
