Joana Monteiro de Oliveira is an Associate Lawyer and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2016.

She works essentially in private clients consultancy, and above all in advising individuals when they move to Portugal, assessing the most efficient way to structure their assets and investments from a Portuguese tax point of view and also in terms of preserving their private wealth, while ensuring the respective generational transfer.

She also has experience in advising individuals, family groups, family offices, trustees and private banks on the efficient management, protection and preservation of assets.

Consulting on taxation planning, which includes analysing of the various international conventions in place to avoid double taxation, analysing the client’s investment portfolio, and restructuring it to optimise investments from a taxation perspective.

Advising clients who fall into the non-habitual residents’ tax category.

Advising Portuguese families, institutions and/or beneficiaries of trusts on how to manage income tax.

Advising both Portuguese and non-Portuguese families on the procedure applicable for the dissolution and liquidation of trusts.

Advising both Portuguese and non-Portuguese families on the re-domiciliation of companies.

Advising private clients on matters of procedure and tax litigation.

Advising Portuguese companies with regard to inspections by the Portuguese tax authorities.
