Madalena Bernardes Coelho is an Associated Partner and has been at Abreu Advogados since 2007, working primarily in the areas of public and environmental law in which she carries out the duties of legal representation and counsel in matters related to environment and energy.

She is co-coordinator of the Environment sector, with particular intervention in matters related to the use of water resources, environmental, industrial and commercial licensing, environmental impact assessment, licensing of electricity production centres, climate change and emissions trading, environmental liability, regulation of energy product markets, waste management and environmental administrative offences.

She also has experience in monitoring licensing procedures in the area of ​​gaming and online betting.

She also has a sustained practice in the provision of legal advisory services in the pharmaceutical and medical devices area.

Advice to multinational and national companies on environmental issues, namely in the scope of environmental impact assessment or environmental incidence assessment procedures, as well as obtaining environmental licenses;

Advice to multinational and national companies on regulatory issues, namely within the scope of industrial licensing procedures;

Advice to national companies on the management of environmental liabilities, including soil and groundwater contamination in industrial areas, along with surveys and risk assessments, as well as in the relationship with the competent authorities;

Legal assistance to national companies in obtaining end-of-waste status;

Legal assistance to national companies in environmental administrative offences and pre-litigation and environmental litigation proceedings;

Advice to governments on legislative reform projects in the waste sector;
