Abreu Advogados highlighted at Expert Guides Rising Stars 2021
Four lawyers from Abreu Advogados were recognised as Rising Stars in the 7th edition of the Expert Guides Rising Stars. Maria Inês Assis, Professional Partner, and Susana Azevedo Duarte, Senior Associate, were distinguished in the Tax category; João Bravo da Costa, Professional Partner, was elected in the Corporate M&A Private Equity area and Madalena Bernardes Coelho, Senior Associate, was recognised in the Environment category.
The initiative is promoted by Legal Media Group and distinguishes lawyers under 40 years of age who have gained recognition in their practice areas, based on the assessment made by their peers.
Maria Inês Assis was elected Rising Star by Expert Guides for the second consecutive year due to her exceptional work in the tax area. She has focused her activity in international tax consultancy, as well as providing tax advice on private wealth management, succession planning and family governance.
Susana Azevedo Duarte joined Abreu Advogados in 2010 and works essentially as a consultant to private clients and companies undergoing restructuring operations, as well as in tax litigation related to various tax matters.
João Bravo da Costa’s professional career has focused on various jurisdictions, with an emphasis on the Angolan market. He has advised several multinationals in restructuring and M&A operations, international trade transactions and foreign exchange issues, involving various sectors such as finance, mining and oil & gas, infrastructures and distribution.
Madalena Bernardes Coelho works essentially in the areas of public law and environment where she acts as legal counsel and advocate in the areas of environment and energy. She is particularly active in matters relating to the use of water resources, environmental licensing and regulation of energy product markets.
