Abreu Advogados and FBL Advogados conference in Angola brings together 250 participants from various sectors

More than 250 people attended the conference ‘Lobito Corridor: Impacts on Angola and Sub-Saharan Africa?’, organised by Abreu Advogados and FBL Advogados, in collaboration with Lex Africa, on October 4, as part of the celebration of FBL’s 20th anniversary, in Luanda.

The event featured respected speakers, including His Excellency Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu, Minister of Transports, and Luís Marques Mendes, President of the Strategic Council Abreu Advogados and State Councillor of Portugal, as well as several other important players from the banking and financial services, transport, logistics and advocacy sectors.

Fernando Faria de Bastos (Partner FBL Advogados), Inês Sequeira Mendes (Managing Partner Abreu Advogados) and Pieter Steyn (Chairman Lex Africa) gave the welcome remarks. The moment was followed by the opening speech by keynote speaker Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu, Minister of Transports.

The first panel, entitled ‘Lobito Corridor: The Rise of a New Energy Hub’, was moderated by João Bravo da Costa (Partner FBL Advogados) and featured Alexandre Canas (Country Manager Trafigura), Juvenal Coque (Executive Director DHL Express Angola), Remco Bernaerdts (Associate Liedekerke DRC) and Manuel Santos Vitor (Partner Abreu Advogados).

The second panel was moderated by Guilherme Santos Silva (Partner at Abreu Advogados), with Tatiana Serrão (Partner at FBL Advogados), Ricardo Ferreira (CEO of Access Bank Angola) and Vasco Nunes (Senior Operations Officer at the International Finance Corporation – IFC) as speakers.

Finally, Luís Marques Mendes closed the conference. The President of the Strategic Council Abreu Advogados and State Councillor of Portugal highlighted the advantages of the Lobito Corridor and referred to the visit of the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, to Angola, considering that it represents a change in the political orientation of the governments of both countries.

This delegation from Abreu Advogados was also joined by Miguel Teixeira de Abreu, Duarte de Athayde, Bernardo Alegria, Zara Jamal, Pedro Pais de Almeida and Bruno Oliveira.
