Abreu Advogados signs UN declaration of commitement for climate

Abreu Advogados, law firm, signed on Wednesday (November 6th), at the International Conference “Making Global Goals Local Business – Iberia at Culturgest, Lisbon, a declaration of commitment of the global campaign “Business Ambition for 1.5ºC – Our Only Future”, launched by the United Nations (UN).

This initiative aims to encourage business organizations worldwide to put measures in place to combat climate change, focusing on the urgent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the necessary transition to a low carbon economy. After EDP ​​(Portuguese Electric Utilities Company) and Scoop (Portuguese Textiles Company) – which were the first Portuguese companies to make this “Business Ambition at 1.5 ° C” commitment last September and within the scope of the Climate in New York – joined now Abreu Advogados and 21 other organizations (19 Portuguese and two Spanish).

To Duarte de Athayde, Managing Partner of Abreu Advogados, “this commitment reinforces the effort we make every day to have a positive impact on society, with environmental sustainability being one of the areas we value the most, developing actions and applying strategies that contribute to a better world”.

Since the launch of the “Business Ambition for 1.5 ° C – Our Only Future” campaign, the number of companies committed to emissions reduction targets has been increasing. Today, more than 2 million employees from 26 countries, from a wide range of companies and sectors, including telecommunications, chemicals, construction and materials, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, finance and technological industries.
