Abreu Advogados Intellectual Property featured in WTR 1000, Chambers, Legal 500 and IP Stars
The Intellectual Property and Information Technologies practice area of Abreu Advogados has reaffirmed its leadership. After receiving distinctions from Chambers, Legal 500 and IP Stars, the firm’s Intellectual Property practice area was recently awarded the “Gold Band” distinction by the World Trademark Review 1000. This directory also distinguished four lawyers with the “Silver Band” and granted a special career award to César Bessa Monteiro, “luminaire” award.
The World Trademark Review 1000, a prestigious directory of intellectual property, announced the results of its 2020 rankings, and Abreu Advogados strengthened its leadership position. The Abreu Advogados’ intellectual property and information technology area was in the spotlight this year as the firm was elevated to “Gold Band” level, and its team was honoured with four places on the podium with the “Silver Band”. This prestigious directory also grants a special recognition to César Bessa Monteiro by assigning him the status of “luminaire”.
The firm’s partners Manuel Durães Rocha, António Andrade, Ricardo Henriques and César Bessa Monteiro, Jr were raised to the silver band category by this prestigious ranking, in recognition of their high level of experience and professionalism in this area of practice. For its part, Abreu Advogados was included in the list of the 10 Portuguese offices in the spotlight, ascending this year to the top category “Gold Band”.
In its tenth edition, the WTR 1000 team also awarded to Abreu Advogados’ Of Counsel César Bessa Monteiro a career award and the special status of “luminaire”. This special award, which the directory attributed to only one lawyer in Portugal, is yet another reconfirmation of the brilliant professional career path of this Of Counsel and a recognition of the high level of expertise he has demonstrated over many years with prestigious national and international clients. In its report, WTR states that César Bessa Monteiro has a “wealth of knowledge and unparalleled experience” in the Portuguese context.
These distinctions by the WTR 1000 highlight the work and growth strategy pursued by Abreu Advogados in this area of practice, which at the end of last year strengthened its position with the addition of a new partner, António Andrade.
It should be also noted that this area of practice was recently highlighted by IP Stars at the Managing IP Awards 2020, which attributed Tier 1 to Trade Mark Contentious and Tier 3 to Trade Mark Prosecution. In addition to these awards, Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 also distinguished the Intellectual Property practice of Abreu Advogados with a Tier 2 ranking. Abreu’s partner, António Andrade, was also recognized individually by Chambers with a Tier 2 ranking.
